Resources

What has actually helped me.

Only things I've used myself. No affiliate links, no hype — just what kept me learning.

Courses I'm learning from

  • Coursera — Data Analytics

The structured backbone of my learning. Less about the certificate, more about learning how analysts actually think.

  • Deloitte Data Analytics Job Simulation

The closest thing to real analyst work I've done outside the internship.

  • Mastercard learning programmes

Short, focused milestones that kept momentum on harder weeks.

SQL

  • Practicing queries daily

Small, dumb questions before clever ones. Joins, aggregations, then window functions.

  • Reading other people's queries

The fastest way to discover that there is always a cleaner way.

Power BI

  • DAX, one measure at a time

I learned more from getting one measure right than from finishing a tutorial.

  • Rebuilding reports from scratch

Take a dashboard you admire. Try to recreate it. Notice what breaks.

Excel

  • Pivot tables, lookups, clean data

Less glamorous than SQL, but the muscle every analyst still uses.

Communities that have helped

  • LinkedIn data community

Following analysts who share their thinking openly has shaped mine.

  • Conversations with my brother-in-law

The original community of one. The reason this whole journey started.

This list will grow as the journey continues.
